Music
There aren't too many
better ways to calm down after hectic week at work than to just sit
down, listen to soothing tunes, and let the all the cares and worries
drift off. Besides the multitude of local
bands, Orlando is home to many concerts
of a variety of tastes throughout the year. The
Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is our local source for wonderful
classical musical experiences, and for those wanting a combination of
music and theater, there is The
Orlando Opera.
Theater
There are numerous
high class production shows around Orlando area; the sheer size of the
tourism industry ensures a wide variety of offerings. For the ongoing
and future shows, you can view the Broadway
in Orlando site for a complete list. The newly renovated Garden
Theatre in Winter Garden hosts a full schedule of family entertainment.

Sports
Is there a better place
to be on a sunny morning than out playing 18 holes? Orlando's golf scene
is world class, containing several hundred courses, many of which are
designed by PGA
Champions. Some of the most popular tournaments are hosted near MetroWest,
such as the Bay
Hill Invitational. It isn't difficult to understand why PGA Champions
such as Arnold
Palmer and Tiger
Woods have made their homes in the beautiful Orlando metropolitan
area.
Orlando's NBA
team, the Orlando
Magic, is a young and exciting group of basketball players.
Don't get carried away
on the drive there, but the
Daytona International Speedway is about an hour's drive from MetroWest.
Daytona is the ultimate destination for NASCAR
racing and the stomping ground for such legends as Dale
Earnhart Jr. People from all over gather to watch racing events
at this venue.
Florida Derby, Kentucky
Derby? Horse racing? Orlando is just south of Ocala,
where the largest horse breeding farms in the state are found. This
$2.2 billion business is certainly worthy of mention. There were 4 Floridian
horses in the 2005 Kentacky
Derby. The legendary Gulfstream
Park and Calder Race
Course are just a few hours drive from Orlando.
As America's national
pasttime, baseball surely deserves a mention. Florida has two MLB
teams, the Florida
Marlins and the Tampa
Bay Devil Rays. And if your favorite team doesn't make its home
here, there's a good chance it has its spring training camp in central
Florida.
Although the weather
just doesn't quite work for outdoor rinks, hockey still flourishes in
Florida. The Tampa
Bay Lightning just scooped up the 2004 Stanley
Cup! Tampa is less than a two hour drive from MetroWest.
Football is very strong
in Florida. With three NFL
teams (Jacksonville
Jaguars, Miami
Dolphins, and Tampa
Bay Buccaneers), and several NCAA
powerhouses, there won't be any trouble finding a game on the weekend.
